The arrogant prince

A Roman merchant's daughter once saw a portrait of a Persian prince, very handsome, his face veiled by seven layers of gauze. The girl fell in love with him and became lovesick. The merchant, unable to bear his daughter's suffering, found a way to deliver the portrait to the queen, pleading with the prince to look at it.

The prince, very proud, refused to even glance at it. Hearing that the girl wept every day, he offered her seven handkerchiefs to wipe her tears; hearing that she wanted to commit suicide for him, he took out a small knife and said, "Let her commit suicide."

The merchant relayed these cruel replies to his daughter. The girl was silent for a moment, then said, "Give me a horse and a bag of money, and I will travel the world."

Along the way, the girl helped many people with her wisdom and courage, and won the admiration of many, but she never stopped. Finally, an old woman, learning that the girl was going to find the proud prince, gave her a magic wand, saying that this wand could grant any wish.

The girl did not directly ask the prince to love her, but instead had the wand create a magnificent palace opposite the proud prince's palace. The next morning, the prince was astonished to find a beautiful palace across the way, and a beautiful girl standing inside. To see her clearly, the proud prince lifted the first veil and sent his servant with his most beautiful bracelet to propose on his behalf.

The girl, however, said, "Take these bracelets and hang them on my door; I'm missing two door knockers." She then dismissed the servant. For six days in a row, the prince lifted a veil each day, presenting the girl with his most precious gifts to propose, but she remained unmoved. Finally, on the seventh day, the prince lifted the final veil, and the two finally met face to face, completely honest with each other. The girl accepted his proposal.

In the face of love, the girl upheld her dignity and received love in an equal manner. True, equal love doesn't fall from the sky or come easily; it only exists through hardship and self-reliance.
